Provincial Champions

Collingwood School’s field hockey team is a force to be reckoned with. After topping the north shore league, they earned a spot at BC AA field hockey provincial championships.

It’s been three years since the field hockey team have won the championship but this year’s roster would change that. The team looked great from the start of the season and into the provincial tournament, bagging many convincing victories. The Cavs took on Seacove in the semi-final, and won 2-0 putting them up against their rival – Crofton house.

In the final game, the Cavs were down 1-0 at halftime. After a pump up speech from the coaches, the girls started the second half fired up with a quick goal from Sophia Ludwig to tie up the match. Minutes later, captain Rachel Spouge scored to put the cavaliers in the lead

The Cavaliers tightened up their defence and goalie, Natalie Dalton, made some excellent saves to keep the Cavs in the lead. As the final whistle blew, the bench cleared as the team tackled their goalkeeper to the ground. For the first time in three years our Collingwood Cavaliers Senior Field Hockey team has won the BC AA Provincial Championships.

Congratulations Cavaliers!
