Funk Rock: Maggot Brain (1978) / Funkadelic
According to legend, while under the influence of LSD, the band began a recording session where several other musicians began playing. However, as Eddie Hazel’s powerful solo unfolded before his ears, George Clinton isolated him in the mix and faded out the rest of the band. What was leftover was perhaps the most memorable guitar solo ever recorded. The rest of the album that follows is a stark contrast to the opening track. IT FUNKAY! OW!
