Kiwanis Festivals for Band & Choir

Every year, choirs and bands from across the Lower Mainland attend the Vancouver Kiwanis Festival to showcase their repertoire from throughout the year and compete with each other whilst receiving adjudication. This year, the Kiwanis Festival celebrated its 95th year hosting thousands of students. Schools from across the Lower Mainland travel to a predetermined destination where the adjudicators will listen to groups perform and give them useful advice.

The Festival took place in April, with the choirs performing on the second week of April and the fourth week falling to the bands. Each of the groups put forth their best efforts and this definitely showed in the performances.

The Concert Choir, Senior Chamber Choir, and Ladies Ensemble each received a Gold for their performances. The Senior Wind Ensemble received a new kind of medal - a Silver Plus. The String Orchestra also earnt a Gold.

Recently, a handful of grade eight and nine students recently returned from their trip to Seattle, receiving a Gold in choir and a Silver in band. Collingwood’s Drumline was also able to participate in a provincial competition in the past week.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in these festivals!
