Collingwood’s Next Eye-Catcher: The Laramie Project

Collingwood’s Next Eye-Catcher: The Laramie Project

The Darlene Howard Theatre team is bringing the second play of the school year into fruition. Mr. Wener and Mr. Schaldemose are preparing for the return of The Laramie Project. Having seen a previous Collingwood performance of this play a few years back, I am looking forward to how this year’s talented cast will tackle it.

The Laramie Project centers around the real story of gay twenty-one-year-old Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. In October of 1998, he was viciously murdered. Although two local men have been deemed the culprits, the story remains secluded in mystery.

Consisting of three acts, the play integrates hundreds of interviews, journal entries, and Laramie inhabitants to shed light on the atmosphere of the town prior to and after Matthew’s murder.

What truths will be revealed and what falsities will be debunked in this grand tale? We’ll find out soon.
